Description:
The dirk is made of steel, with two blades, with one short fuller. 12-cms of etching, gilding and blueing. The fuller bears M.T. Kalashnikov's signature on the blued background. The heel bears the USSR arms.
The heel's underside contains the category number « S-55». The side edges bear inscriptions Tychkin V.A., Zlatoust, 2005 (in Russian).
The hilt consists of the grip with two caps and pommel and of cross guard with cross bar.
The grip is wooden, tubby, twisted, leather-covered, interweaved with white smooth and gilded wire. The caps are octahedral. The round conic pommel is decorated with the plated Russian State Emblems. The cross guard is straight, with dilative ends, decorated with the RPK (light machine-gun) silhouettes. The cross bar is shaped in pentagonal escutcheon, bears the « RPK » inscription.
The sheath is metal, leather-covered, with locket, middle band and tip. There is plated relief portrait featuring M.T. Kalashnikov inscription (in Russian) on the locket.
On the middle band there is plated five-point star.
All the armature pieces are decorated with stylized plant ornament.
