IRINA RAKOVA was born in Russia in 1966. She settles in France in 1990, after studying at the School of Fine Arte in Moscow. Now she lives and works in Paris.
She participated in numerous collective and personal exhibitions in Russia, Germany and Austria. She exposes her work in Art galleries.
The elegance, poetry and refinement of her work sweep the viewers into a dream world rooted in the tales and legends of traditional Russia.
The world penetrates the artist and, winding its way through the tangled, magical labyrinth of her soul, emerges transformed – marked by the authentic and personal stroke with traces the response of Art to the essential questions posed by the human condition.
This touch is all but innocent: a work of Art, in its very existence renders the world more beautiful or more cruel, more hazy or more clear... or senseless and vain... it is thus. So be it.
A story is a trivial, momentary anecdote if it is not inspired by a folktale or a dream...
The world, in Irina's paintings, leaves behind its hard shell. She shows us peaceful, limpid scenes of an unsophisticated inspiration and pure colors. If one had to name these images, why not call them “clears solitudes”?
Moments of solitude generously shared... a flower, un animal, on her canvas becomes a friend, someone to talk to, waiting. Waiting for what? Waiting. Just that.
